DYLAN'S STORY

A young tenor who offers genuine and dynamic performances, Dylan Schang is making his mark with each passing engagement. This past summer, he joined Central City Opera as an Apprentice Artist in the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Artists Training Program, where he covered the role of Iago in Rossini's Otello, and performed The Gondolier in Otello and Benvolio in Goundod's Roméo et Juliette. Earlier this year, Dylan was a Resident Artist at the inaugural session of the Vocal Immersion Program at Castleton, led by Paul Groves and Michelle DeYoung. Last summer, Dylan joined Chicago Summer Opera for a production of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, where he was featured in teh role of Tamino, sang the role of Armored Man, and covered the role of Monostatos. This upcoming summer marks Dylan's return to Central City, where he will sing the role of Sam Kaplan in their production of Kurt Weill's Street Scene.


Dylan is a recent graduate of Luther College, receiving his Bachelor of Arts
degree and studying with tenor Edwin Andereck and coach Nicholas Shaneyfelt.
During his time at Luther, he sang the roles of Rinuccio in Puccini’s Gianni
Schicchi
, Alfred in Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus, as well as Aeneas in a production
of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, which won first place in the National Opera
Association’s production competition. Dylan also performed in several Opera
Scenes productions, with scenes from operas such as Les pêcheurs des perles
(Nadir), Idomeneo (Idomeneo), L’elisir d’amore (Nemorino), Don Pasquale
(Ernesto), Il barbiere di Siviglia (Almaviva), and La fille du régiment (Tonio). He
received the Brudos Family Prize in Opera Performance, and offered recitals
including famous Lieder cycles such as Beethoven’s An die ferne Geliebte and
Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin. Dylan now begins his Master of Music degree
at 
Louisiana State University in the studio of Robert Grayson and Paul
Groves. In the fall, he will again be singing the role of Tamino in Die Zauberflöte,
and will be featured on the Grayson/Groves studio concert of “An Evening of
Puccini”, singing selections from La Bohéme and La Rondine.
